A poll worker just had to ask a woman waiting in line to change shirts or cover up her Obama tee. Gotta be careful about what you wear to the polls.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Putting a Student Rep on City Council
At yesterday’s mayoral debate, sponsored by the ASG and held in the Union, Walt unveiled his idea to put a student representative on City Council.  (The idea isn’t without precedent:  The University of Iowa student body is represented on Iowa City’s City Council, and the University of California - Davis has similar representation, too.) Walt’s actively engaged students and...

Words of Support
People throughout our community continue to send letters of support to local papers.  Check out this letter from Gwen Darling: I am writing to publicly endorse Walt Eilers for mayor of Fayetteville, and to encourage Fayetteville voters to really stop and think about the best way to keep a good thing going. I believe it’s important to point out that although I have been very active in the...

Public Safety
(From this week’s campaign newsletter) Fayetteville’s primary governmental responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. This is done through budgeting for appropriate police, fire and rescue and ambulance services, as well as training, equipment and compensation. Our public safety personnel do an exceptional job protecting and serving our citizens, but we must give...

Economic Development
(From this week’s campaign newsletter) Much has been made about economic development in the recent mayoral debates, and for good reason. A viable economic development plan is critical—and yet we don’t have one. Mayor Coody has had eight years to bring us an economic development plan, and only now—in an election year—is he working to bring a plan to the table by paying a consultant in...

Stealing Signs
So we had more than a dozen signs stolen from the Wilson Park area last night.  It’s a problem that’s hit our campaign since we first placed signs several weeks ago.  How ridiculous do you have to be to steal a political sign?  We’ve filed a police report, and we’re taking steps to put an end to it. -Greg
